A wind advisory will take effect late Sunday for parts of the Bay Area, where dry offshore winds are expected to strengthen over higher terrain and raise fire-weather concerns.The wind advisory runs from 11 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday for the Santa Cruz Mountains, North Bay interior mountains, eastern Santa Clara hills and East Bay hills. Winds are expected from the north to northeast at 15 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. A few isolated gusts could reach 60 mph on the most exposed ridges and through mountain gaps.
The strongest winds are expected overnight into late Monday morning across higher elevations of the North Bay, East Bay, South Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains. Gusts could be strong enough in those areas to knock down small branches, blow around unsecured objects and cause isolated power outages.
The advisory is not expected to bring widespread damaging winds to lower-elevation cities around the bay. San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose and shoreline communities should be far less exposed than the hills, with gusts generally expected to stay in the 25 to 35 mph range…
