A beloved Bay Area couple, longtime supporters and patrons of the San Francisco art community, were found dead inside their vehicle along a stretch of Interstate 5 north of Redding, according to law enforcement and multiple media reports.
California Highway Patrol Lt. Josh Smith said Judith Sheldon, 84, and her husband, Wylie Sheldon, 86, were on their way to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival on June 15 when a patrol officer spotted their Jeep Compass parked along the northbound shoulder near Lake Shasta around 5:45 p.m., SFGATE reported.
As the officer approached, he noted the engine was still running, but the couple inside was unresponsive.
