East Oakland Street Erupts as Car Torched and Cop Hurt in International Boulevard Clash

International Boulevard in East Oakland turned chaotic on Monday after prosecutors say a woman set a car on fire, then attacked officers and medical personnel who rushed in to respond, leaving one officer injured. The confrontation unfolded along International Boulevard just east of Hegenberger Avenue, and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene. A plea hearing is scheduled for today.

What prosecutors allege

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office says a criminal complaint has been filed against 40-year-old Krystal M. Love, alleging she set both a vehicle and a nearby tree on fire before assaulting officers and medical personnel who arrived at the scene. One officer suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to CBS San Francisco. Prosecutors also say the complaint alleges Love used a weapon during the attack and that prior convictions could increase her potential sentencing exposure.

Charges and court schedule

According to reporting from Bay City News Service via SFGATE, Love faces multiple felony counts, including assault and battery on a peace officer causing injury and use of a deadly weapon.
