Thousands of music lovers gathered at the San Jose Civic for an evening with Indian music composer, singer, performer, and actor Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP. According to a press release, the sold-out concert was organized by the Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) and Bay Area Entertainments (BAE), alongside Realtor Nagaraj Annaiah and in association with APEX Consulting Services, drawing a large crowd from the local South Asian diaspora.
From the moment DSP took the stage, the audience was engaged by a performance filled with chart-topping hits and entertainment. For nearly three hours, the artist performed alongside a lineup of prominent playback singers, including Karthik, Sameera Bharadwaj, Rita, and Sagar, accompanied by a large troupe of dancers that included the Rudra Dance Academy from New Jersey and the Macha Swag team dancers.
Celebrating Over Two Decades of Telugu Cinema Hits
Known for his stage presence, DSP performed a curated mix of classics and recent blockbuster tracks from his musical career, which spans more than 120 films and over 800 songs in Indian cinema. The concert highlighted the deep connection between the artist and the local Telugu-speaking community in Northern California.
During the concert, DSP shared personal news with the audience, announcing his upcoming acting debut in the film Yellamma, produced by Dil Raju and directed by Venu. Reflecting on his career trajectory, he noted that his first film as a music director was Devi in 1999, and his first film as an actor is similarly centered around Goddess Ammavaru.
