Scooter-riding burglary spree suspect arrested in San Jose

(KRON) — A burglary spree suspect who zoomed around the Bay Area on an electric scooter, committing dozens of crimes over the course of a year, was caught by San Jose police last week, authorities announced Thursday.

The San Jose Police Department said 47-year-old Jonathan Bynum mainly targeted restaurants and coffee shops during his crime spree. Over 30 incidents of commercial burglaries were tied to the suspect between early 2025 and June 2026, according to police.

“The suspect frequently used an electric scooter as his mode of transportation while committing various burglaries in San José and throughout the Bay Area,” SJPD wrote.

A search warrant served at Bynum’s San Jose home on Apr. 30 uncovered several items that authorities said directly linked him to the multiple burglaries.
