A violent stabbing suspect in West San Jose is behind bars after San Jose police officers, guided by real-time video and license plate tracking from the department’s tech hub, located and apprehended him with a weapon still in his vehicle. Officers had responded to a disturbance involving a weapon and found a victim suffering from a life-threatening stab wound, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The San Jose Police Department said its Real-Time Intelligence Center helped officers locate the dangerous suspect following the violent stabbing. In a social media post, the San Jose Police Department reported that SJPD patrol and RTIC worked together to apprehend a violent suspect, describing the operation as a team effort that combined technology and police work. Officers ultimately located and apprehended the suspect and recovered a weapon from inside the suspect’s vehicle.

Real-Time Cameras Guided Officers to the Suspect
RTIC personnel provided real-time updates on the suspect and the suspect vehicle as patrol units closed in, per the department’s account. The center, launched in early 2025, fuses live video from roughly a third of the city’s traffic cameras with automated license plate readers and body camera feeds through the Axon Fusus and Peregrine software platforms, according to Axon. That infrastructure lets analysts feed live location data to officers chasing a suspect vehicle without waiting for a warrant during an active emergency call, per the San Jose Police Department’s automated license plate reader policy…
