Michelin-starred chef on board for new restaurant in downtown San Jose

SAN JOSE — A Bay Area restaurant executive and Michelin-star chef who specializes in Indian cuisine are set to open a new restaurant at the historic Hotel De Anza in downtown San Jose, according to official state records.

Restaurant entrepreneur Ayesha Thapar and chef Srijith “Sri” Gopinathan received a state liquor license for a drinking establishment that must also operate as a restaurant at 233 W. Santa Clara St., public records on file with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Department show.

ANS Provisions, which received the state ABC license, lists Thapar as its president and Gopinathan as treasurer. The license became effective Aug. 5 and was transferred from the principal owners of the hotel…
