Café Ikebana is preparing to open at 108 Castro St. in downtown Mountain View, introducing a new café and lounge concept to the Castro Street corridor. Owner Virginia Qian told WhatNow that Café Ikebana is being designed as a day-to-night destination, with different offerings throughout the day. Café Ikebana has not announced a specific opening date.
During daytime hours, the café will focus on matcha drinks, cakes, baked goods, Japanese sandwiches and healthier food options. The concept will shift in the evening into a lounge serving specialty cocktails, desserts and tea-based drinks. On weekends, Café Ikebana will add brunch and afternoon tea options.
Qian said the food and beverage program draws inspiration from her experiences living and traveling in New York City, Japan and Paris, bringing influences from each place into the concept. The interior is also intended to support longer visits rather than simply quick café stops…
