SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Amazon has announced plans to cut nearly 150 jobs around the Bay Area. A state filing with the Employment Development Department indicates that the e-commerce giant will be slashing 70 jobs in Sunnyvale and another 78 positions at its Bush Street office in San Francisco.

The job cuts, which are set to take effect on Oct. 20, are all permanent, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice. No reason has been publicly disclosed for the layoffs.
Also in the tech sector, silicon chip designer Synopsys has unveiled plans to slash 128 jobs at its Sunnyvale headquarters. Those job cuts are set to take effect on Dec. 16.
The latest round of tech layoffs come as we head into the final quarter of a year that has already blown past the total number of job cuts in the technology sector last year. There have been 123,305 tech employees laid off across 289 companies, according to tracking website layoffs.fyi…
