(KRON) — The San Jose Animal Care Center’s Field Unit is urgently asking the public for information after two cats were found shot with a pellet gun, within weeks, in two different areas of San Jose.
There have been no suspects identified or leads developed in either case, and it is not known if the incidents are connected, according to officials.
“The week before last, a stray kitty, approximately six-month-old cat was found near Chaucer Drive x South King Road after being shot with a pellet gun,” the center said. “She was severely underweight and unable to stand when she arrived at our shelter. Our medical team found eight pellets lodged in her body and were able to remove five. She remains in our care, recovering from surgery while being fostered by a shelter staff member. Last week, a second cat was found near South Almaden Avenue x Union Street after being shot once with a pellet gun. Our medical team treated her injuries, and she remains in our care as she continues to recover.”
