CASTRO VALLEY, CA — John T. Powell, 20, of Castro Valley, allegedly fatally stabbed his father at the family’s residence on Parsons Avenue. Alameda County Sheriff’s Office deputies took him into custody at the home on September 5.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:30 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance, involving an injured person. It turned out to be a terrible family tragedy.
Further investigation revealed that a physical altercation had occurred inside the residence between the suspect’s parents. Evidently, the stabbing happened when the son intervened because his mother was in distress. The suspect is heavyset, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 300 pounds…
