(KRON) — Deputies in the South Bay checking out what appeared to be an unattended white van in a remote part of Santa Clara County discovered “something far more concerning,” authorities said Tuesday. Inside, according to the sheriff’s office, was a convicted felon surrounded by illegal firearms, several “commercial grade” grenades and narcotics.
The felon inside the van, identified as Tyler Anderson, 40, of San Jose, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Sorting through the contents of the van, deputies uncovered a “hidden arsenal,” the sheriff’s office said. Some of the items included a short barrel rifle with an altered serial number, a ghost gun, several grenades that were later determined to be smoke grenades, methamphetamine, loaded high-capacity gun magazines and drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.
