A Bay Area entertainment and leisure company that has operated movie theaters for 85 years is poised to take over a popular multiplex in Silicon Valley.
Cinemark Century Mountain View 16 is scheduled to close Thursday, Sept. 24, but plans are to reopen the theater as Mountain View 16 in time for the holiday movie season after what are described as “operational upgrades.”
Cinemark’s lease expires at the end of the month, and the theater chain based in Plano, Texas, decided not to renew. Instead, property owner Syufy Enterprises, which built the theater in 1985 and originally created Century Theatres in 1941, plans to resume operations…
