McCaffrey was a Consensus All-American at Stanford in 2015, before becoming a star for the Panthers and 49ers
Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer became the all-time NCAA wins leader with Sunday’s win against Oregon State. As expected, several of her former players were in attendance to witness history.
Monday night, VanDerveer got a visit from another Bay Area star.
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, a Consensus All-American at Stanford in 2015, dropped by a Monday dinner to introduce himself to the all-time great.
“Best trade the 49ers ever made,” VanDerveer said of McCaffrey. “We chatted. Very nice young man.”
McCaffrey’s 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers on Saturday to advance to their third-straight NFC Championship as the 49ers look to win their first Super Bowl since 1994.
