State: 2.1 million cubic yards of garbage collected off California roadways since 2021

In a significant achievement, the Clean California initiative, launched in 2021, has successfully cleared more than 2.1 million cubic yards of trash from highway rights-of-way and various public spaces.

The commitment to eliminating litter continues to make a visible impact, with the latest cleanup efforts extending to San Mateo along State Route 92 on Monday.

The initiative, which emphasizes achieving a goal of zero litter, is part of a broader statewide effort to enhance cleanliness and maintain the aesthetic appeal of California’s highways and public areas.

Since its inception, Clean California has garnered attention and support, receiving acknowledgment from key figures such as Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Transportation Agency. The ongoing commitment to keeping the state’s landscapes free of debris aligns with environmental goals and fosters a sense of community pride.
