( KRON ) — A San Jose man who mowed down a law student with his car in 2018 and kept driving with the young man stuck in his windshield was convicted of murder this week. A jury also convicted the man, Troy Moulton, of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office .
The incident occurred on Feb. 23, 2018, at around 11 p.m. Moulton was driving his 1997 Toyota Camry, going 50 miles per hour in a residential San Jose neighborhood with signs posted for 30 mph. He ran a stop sign and struck Barrett Grabow, a 24-year-old Santa Clara University law student, who was walking in the opposite crosswalk at the intersection of Park Avenue and Newhall Street.

The impact propelled the victim through the windshield of the car, the DA said. However, Moulton did not stop of slow his vehicle. Instead, Moulton, who was 56 at the time, “swerved his car to dislodge the still-living victim.”
