Suspected DUI driver parks car on California commuter railroad tracks, police say

The San Mateo Police Department is sending out a clear reminder to the public: parking your car on train tracks is never a good idea, and doing so while intoxicated only compounds the danger.

The cautionary message comes after a recent incident in downtown San Mateo where a car was captured on camera driving onto the Caltrain railroad tracks.

In a social media post adorned with emojis, the San Mateo Police emphasized the importance of responsible decision-making, particularly when it comes to driving under the influence.

The post stated, “It goes without saying that parking your car on the train tracks isn’t the best idea. However, if you were driving while intoxicated, maybe you weren’t making the best decisions to begin with.”

The accompanying photo vividly depicts a car precariously positioned on the railroad tracks, highlighting the potential dangers associated with such actions.

Law enforcement officials are urging individuals to prioritize responsible alternatives, especially when they find themselves in compromised states. “Be responsible… a taxi, bus, or Uber is always cheaper than a DUI,” the San Mateo Police Department emphasized in their message.
