Driver of hard-to-miss van accused of reckless driving by citizen who reports the bad driving to CHP

Action has been taken to address a concerning case of reckless driving in the Hayward Hills Area, the California Highway Patrol stated.

A citizen, deeply concerned about a yellow van endangering the neighborhood, reached out to the CHP with a photo of the vehicle, prompting the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) to investigate.

On Thursday, Officer Cefalu, who had been patrolling the area in response to the citizen’s complaint, witnessed the reckless yellow van in action.

Taking decisive action, Officer Cefalu conducted a traffic stop and subsequently issued the driver a citation for running a stop sign and using a cell phone while driving, the CHP said.

The citizen’s willingness to report the reckless driving and provide a photo played a crucial role in the success of the CHP’s enforcement efforts.
