Community, family mark 35 years to the day a California teenager mysteriously vanished

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the disappearance of Ilene Misheloff, a 13-year-old Dublin teenager who vanished while walking home from Wells Middle School on January 30, 1989.

The Dublin Police Services continues to stand in solidarity with the Misheloff family, vowing to bring closure to this long-standing mystery.

Ilene was last seen at approximately 3:00 p.m. that fateful day, walking alone on Amador Valley Boulevard near Village Parkway. Her key fob was discovered later near the entrance to John Mape Park, along the route she typically took home.

Despite exhaustive efforts over the past three and a half decades, the circumstances surrounding Ilene’s disappearance remain shrouded in mystery.

Ilene, who had braces, pierced ears, freckles on her cheeks and the bridge of her nose, and a small lump on the inside of her left ankle, was last seen wearing a charcoal gray pullover “Esprit” polo sweater, a pink and charcoal gray skirt with horizontal stripes, and black low-top “Keds” sneakers.
