NEWS RELEASE: City of San José Ready for Upcoming Storm

Carolina Camarena, Director of Communications, City of San José. City staff is prepared with outreach and services to unhoused residents. SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 30, 2024) – A storm is expected to bring 1-3 inches of rainfall and high wind gusts of 40+ mph starting Wednesday morning, January 31 through Thursday morning, February 1, with lingering showers through the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in effect from January 31 at 4 a.m. until February 2 at 4 a.m. and a wind advisory from January 31 at 4 a.m. until February 1 at 4 a.m. The City of San José anticipates street ponding, water level rise in creeks and streams, and the potential for downed trees and powerlines.
