Family mourns man fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in San Jose

(KRON) — A family is mourning a 26-year-old man, Vincent Thach, who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in San Jose. Thach was running in the area of Quimby Road and South White Road around 6:43 a.m. on January 11 when a car crashed into him, police said. The driver immediately fled from the scene.

Thach was take to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries 16 days later, on January 27. The San Jose Police Department said it is still searching for the unidentified driver. The deadly incident was the third pedestrian death in San Jose this year.

The victim’s cousin, Kathleen Lam, said Thach’s parents and extended family are all devastated.

“Let’s remember to be patient and empathetic with each other. In honor of Vincent’s life, let’s remember to slow down, take a deep breath, take in your surroundings a little deeper, and love a little harder. Life is short, let’s remember to appreciate it and always choose kindness, the same way that Vincent did,” Lam wrote on a GoFundMe page.
