( KRON ) — A man was arrested overnight Tuesday for drug sales while in possession of more than 500 pounds of copper wire, the Fremont Police Department announced on social media. The arrest was made at a traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. on Farwell Drive.
FPD officers approached Juan Jose Cazares-Alvarado, 33, of Livermore and three other occupants of the vehicle (pictured below). Police searched the car and found approximately four ounces of suspected methamphetamine, several electric saws and bolt cutters — along with the copper wire.
Cazares-Alvarado denied ownership of the suspected meth and 500 pounds of copper wire, police said. Officers tried to track down the owner of the copper wire but were unsuccessful.
Nonetheless, Cazares-Alvarado was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools and driving without a license. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
