No. 3 Hawaii men’s volleyball dominates No. 5 Stanford to complete series sweep

The No. 3 University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team emphatically finished a series sweep over No. 5 Stanford with a 27-25, 25-7, 25-20 victory on Friday night at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

A crowd of 8,930 watched with enthusiasm as Hawaii improved to 10-1 for the 2024 season, while Stanford dropped to 7-3.

After defeating the Cardinal in four sets on Wednesday, the Rainbow Warriors dominated from the get-go on Friday, led by star player Spyros Chakas, who had 23 kills on 30 swings with just one error, hitting .733. As a team, Hawaii had just three errors.

Meanwhile, freshman setter Tread Rosenthal had a match-high 33 assists with two digs, two blocks and two service aces.

For Stanford, Alex Rottman had a team-high 10 kills.

Hawaii will be idle until Feb. 22 when it takes on Missouri S&T.
