91-year-old pedestrian killed in Hayward crash

( KRON ) — A 91-year-old man was killed in a crash on Thursday morning, the Hayward Police Department said.

The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Hesperian Boulevard and Bartlett Avenue. The elderly man was on foot when he was hit by a car.

The victim was hospitalized after first responders came to the scene. He died from his injuries at the hospital.

The driver, a 61-year-old man, stayed at the scene after the crash. He was not injured and cooperated with the police investigation.

The fatal crash was the City of Hayward’s second of 2024. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
