On February 10, a fire occurred in an apartment on the 100 block of Sierra Vista Avenue. The fire was reported at 12:48 p.m. through a 9-1-1 call, with the caller noting visible smoke and flames. A neighbor safely evacuated the apartment’s occupant before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters from the City of Mountain View Fire Department reached the scene at 12:53 p.m. Units from the City of Palo Alto also arrived to help extinguish the fire. The fire was in a first-floor apartment of a multi-story building. The fire crews quickly put out the fire, stopping it from spreading to other apartments.

The firefighters also checked the affected apartment thoroughly. They opened the walls and ceiling to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. During this process, the Mountain View Police Department closed Sierra Vista Avenue for the safety of the fire units and their equipment.

After the incident, two individuals were checked for smoke inhalation. The occupant of the fire-damaged apartment was taken to Santa Clara County Ambulance for further evaluation but declined additional treatment. Another individual from a nearby apartment was also checked by paramedics but refused further treatment and transport. There were no reported injuries among the fire crews.
