On February 12, 2024, Marvin Velasquez, a 27-year-old Fremont resident, was arrested for kidnapping and sexual assault. The incident took place around 9:10 p.m. at Fremont Boulevard and Eggers Drive, where the female victim was walking alone. Velasquez allegedly approached and assaulted her. The victim and Velasquez were strangers.
Bystanders who saw the incident detained Velasquez until police arrived. He was charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, and battery resulting in serious injury. Velasquez is now in custody at Santa Rita Jail, with an arraignment scheduled for February 15, 2024. The Fremont Police Crimes Against Person(s) Unit is investigating the incident.
