A quiet neighborhood in San Mateo was shaken on Monday, February 12, 2024, when police responded to a welfare check in the 4100 block of Alameda de las Pulgas.
What unfolded at the scene was a heartbreaking discovery of four deceased individuals inside a residence.
At 9:13 a.m., San Mateo Police officers, upon receiving the welfare check report, arrived at the location to find no immediate response.
After searching the perimeter and detecting no signs of forced entry, officers identified an unlocked window as a point of entry. Inside the home, a grim and tragic scene awaited them.
The bodies of an adult male, an adult female, and two children were discovered.
The two children, found deceased in a bedroom, have yet to have their cause of death determined as investigations are ongoing.
The adult male and female were both located in a bathroom, succumbing to gunshot wounds.
Disturbingly, a 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were found in the same bathroom.
San Mateo Police’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has taken charge of the case, with the San Mateo County Crime Lab providing crucial support in collecting evidence.
