Local San José Resident Arrested for Attempted Homicide, Police Seek Public Assistance

The San José Police Department (SJPD) has arrested 29-year-old Fernando Macias in relation to an attempted homicide case. Macias, a San José resident, was arrested on February 13, 2024. The case stems from a shooting incident on January 30, 2024, at a hotel on North 4th Street in San José.

Officers responding to the scene found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries, which were later downgraded to non-life-threatening.

The SJPD Assaults Unit identified Macias as the main suspect during their investigation. An arrest warrant was issued for him. Macias was found and arrested at a hotel in Santa Clara by the Special Operations MERGE Unit. He was charged with attempted homicide and is currently in Santa Clara County Main Jail.

The motive and details of the incident are still being investigated. The SJPD is asking the public for any information related to the case.
