Woman who fled San Jose crash scene found dead at home 2 days later

( KRON ) — A woman who reportedly left the scene of a crash back in June was found dead at her home two days later, according to the San Jose Police Department. SJPD officers responded on June 15 to the area of 2100 Oakland Road on a report of a solo vehicle crash.

According to police, a 2012 gray Hyundai SUV was traveling on Oakland Road when it struck a tree in the center median. Witnesses saw the woman who was driving the SUV flee the scene of the crash.

Officers responded to the registered owner of the SUV’s residence but were unable to locate her. Two days later, on June 17 at around 9:51 p.m., SJPD officers responded to a reported death at the same residence.

The woman who owned the SUV was found deceased inside the residence by family members. At that time, police said, an investigation into the death was ongoing to determine if the crash had been a factor.

On Monday, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office notified the SJPD Traffic Investigation Unit that the accident was deemed to be a significant factor in the cause of death. This marked San Jose’s 31st fatal crash and 31st traffic death this year.
