At about 4:20 p.m., officers were arresting a suspect following a nearby theft investigation. “As officers investigated the theft, they were alerted to another theft occurring inside the same business,” FPD said, leading additional officers to respond.

According to FPD, a store employee reported seeing the second theft suspect “forcibly” remove a tablet from a display case, take some food, and enter the bathroom. After spending some time in the bathroom, police said the suspect left the store without paying.

Once police confronted the theft suspect outside the store, they said he was not compliant in “putting his hands behind his back,” arguing that he was not given an “opportunity” to return the items police said he had stolen.
