Personal info accessed in Patelco Credit Union ransomware attack

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ( KRON ) — Dublin-based Patelco Credit Union is warning its half a million members to be aware that some of their personal information may have been breached.

The credit union said an unauthorized party gained access to its network on May 23, leading to a ransomware attack on June 29. The attack caused its members to have limited access to their funds and bank accounts.

Patelco confirmed that members’ first and last names, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, dates of birth and emails were accessed by the attackers. Not every element was present for every individual, according to the credit union.
