AUG 22 TRADE Washington has an issue. Maybe this solves it.

It’s an early Thursday morning trade, as the Browns are sending kicker Cade York to the Commanders for a conditional seventh-round pick. Meaning … neither team is taking much of a risk here.

Cleveland recently signed Dustin Hopkins to his three-year, $15.9 million extension. So York, once a fourth-round pick, was never going to cut it there.

But here? Washington is a team struggling in this area, of course, and now Riley Patterson gets some competition.

AUG 13 WR SIGNS Martavis Bryant is getting another “second chance” as the Dallas Cowboys’ former practice squad receiver is signing with coach Dan Quinn’s Washington Commanders, per multiple Tuesday morning reports.

Quinn – the new head coach in Washington who knows the player from his brief time in Dallas – has given Bryant a tryout. … and it’s worked out.

Bryant, 32, was originally a fourth-round pick by Pittsburgh in 2014. … and he showed star quality there as he used his 6-4 frame effectively. Maybe he can do it again despite a league suspension that had him away from the NFL for almost a half-decade.
