SJ: Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Big-Rig Last Week Identified

A motorcyclist was killed last week in San Jose when he fell off his motorcycle and was struck by a truck, police said Wednesday.

At 12:14 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a fatal traffic collision in the 1100 block of Old Bayshore Highway involving a commercial truck and a motorcycle.

Polce said a 2020 Honda motorcycle operated by a man was traveling north on Old Bayshore Highway. While splitting lanes, the motorcyclist struck a 2015 Peterbilt big-rig occupied by an adult male driver who was also traveling north on Old Bayshore Highway.

The motorcyclist, Edward Kirk, 58, of San Jose, fell off his motorcycle and was struck by the big-rig. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The big-rig driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. It was the 35th fatal collision in 2024 on San Jose streets.
