Fallen trees, debris, broken drains: Intensive repairs to close California highway over mountains

SANTA CLARA COUNTY – Caltrans has announced a full closure of State Route 9 (SR-9) Big Basin Way between Sanborn Road and Redwood Gulch Road in Saratoga. The closure will be in effect Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM to facilitate the safe removal of fallen trees, debris clearing, drainage system maintenance, and slope regrading.

On weekends, one-way traffic control will be implemented from 7 AM to 5 PM. This work is crucial for ensuring the safety of both the traveling public and the maintenance crews.

Construction activities are expected to be completed by the week of November 5, 2024. Motorists are advised to plan for detours, expect delays, and allow extra travel time. Changeable Message Signs (CMS) and detour information will be posted to guide drivers.
