The Mozilla Foundation, the nonprofit wing of Firefox maker Mozilla, has laid off 30% of its workforce, citing a need to adapt to “a relentless onslaught of change.” The organization, which employed around 120 people at the time of the layoffs, confirmed the reductions in a statement shared with TechCrunch.
The foundation intends to focus on ensuring a more open and equitable technical future, which unfortunately led to the elimination of certain roles, TechCrunch reported.
This marks the second round of layoffs at Mozilla this year, following cuts at the Mozilla Corporation, the arm responsible for developing the Firefox browser. The foundation oversees Mozilla’s governance and policy direction.
