Forbes Advisor has named San Jose residents the healthiest in America, spotlighting the city’s focus on wellness and health-conscious living. The ranking, released by the business magazine, also highlights four other California cities among the top 15: San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles, according to Forbes.
Several health factors helped San Jose rise to the top. The city has one of the lowest adult smoking rates in the nation, ranks fifth in lowest heart disease deaths per capita, and has a remarkably low rate of adults with high blood pressure, Forbes found. Additionally, San Jose has the sixth-lowest rate of binge drinking and the ninth-lowest percentage of adults reporting physical inactivity, according to the ranking.
