Driver arrested after pursuit and weapon brandishing in San Mateo County

REDWOOD CITY, California — A driver was arrested earlier this week after leading officers on a pursuit through San Mateo County while brandishing a handgun and consuming alcohol, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Redwood City. The chase ended in San Jose with a successful Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver.The incident began when CHP Redwood City graveyard officers were called to assist San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies in pursuing a gray pickup truck. During the chase, the suspect vehicle collided with a Belmont Police Department patrol car but continued to flee. Officers later found two BB handguns and a pellet rifle in the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody for brandishing a weapon and suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, stated the CHP Redwood City. No injuries were reported during the incident.
