$1,200 meat heist thwarted by alert Safeway employee in Cupertino, two arrested with prime cuts and ribeyes

CUPERTINO, California ( MyCaliforniaNews.com ) — Two suspects were apprehended after allegedly stealing over $1,000 worth of prime cuts from a Safeway store on Homestead Road. An observant employee noted the theft and provided a description of the suspects and their getaway vehicle, a black Toyota Prius, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.Deputies, led by Deputy Velasco, tracked the suspects to the home of the registered car owner, where they recovered more than $1,200 in stolen meats intended for New Year’s celebrations. Both suspects were subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. The Sheriff’s Office praised the Safeway worker for their vigilance and teamwork in resolving the incident.
