Women involved in Pittsburg dog-kicking incident charged with animal cruelty

( KRON ) — Two women involved in an incident in which a neighbor’s dog was violently kicked have been charged with cruelty to an animal, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office announced on Friday. The incident, which was caught on video and went viral on social media , took place in a Pittsburg neighborhood last month.

The home surveillance video shows two women arguing with a homeowner with two small dogs as he washes his car. At one point, one of the women walks up to one of the small dogs and kicks it, sending the animal flying as the women laugh.

The Pittsburg Police Department launched an investigation into the incident on Feb. 19.

The women, later identified as 46-year-old Lagashia Shante Williams and 18-year-old Graciela Amar, were arrested and booked into the Martinez and West County Detention Facilities on Feb. 27, according to the DA. They were released after posting bail of $172,500 on March 1 and March 2 respectively…
