A campaign seeking to recall Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton filed a petition with the county elections department Friday, beginning the formal process to ask voters whether Becton should be removed from office.
The petition notifies county officials that the campaign intends to gather signatures of people who believe the recall question should be put to voters. Officials will review the signatures to ensure they were collected from registered county voters before putting the recall on the ballot.
