$200K in rewards for unsolved crimes announced by Gov. Newsom

( KRON ) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced $200,000 in reward money for unsolved crimes, two of which were in the Bay Area. Newsom announced four separate rewards of $50,000 each for the four separate crimes.

Officer killed in Hillsborough

The first case was related to the attempted homicide of a police officer in Hillsborough in San Mateo County. A Hillsborough Police Department officer was ambushed and shot at around 3:49 p.m. on Feb. 22. The officer was on the Hillsborough PD Station property at 1600 Floribunda Ave. when the shooting occurred.

According to Newsom’s office, Hillsborough PD have exhausted all investigative leads and request that a reward be offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest or conviction in the case.

1997 Petaluma cold case

The second Bay Area case stems from a 1997 incident in Sonoma County. On Aug. 22, 1997, 12-year-old Georgia Moses was found deceased next to the southbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Petaluma Boulevard South. She had previously gone missing from her home in Petaluma.

Again, police have exhausted all investigative leads in the case and a $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest or conviction.

Additional cases and Lemoore and La Mesa

The other two cases involved include the 2021 fatal shooting of Cornelius Brown in La Mesa in San Diego County. Brown was fatally shot in the doorway of his apartment on April 24 of 2021.

Another reward is being offered in the case of a fatal shooting in Kings County. Jeff Scott, 52, was fatally shot on the Santa Rosa Rancheria reservation in Lemoore on March 25, 2022…
