(KRON) — A Santa Clara County Main Jail inmate in San Jose was found unresponsive inside of his cell over the weekend before he was declared dead by paramedics, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 56-year-old man’s name and suspected cause of death were not released on Monday. Deputies said they found the inmate at 5:07 p.m. Saturday and immediately began CPR. “Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at approximately 5:45 p.m.,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
The man had only been in jail for one day. He was booked Friday for outstanding warrants, including warrants for being a felon in possession of a firearm, DUI, possessing drug paraphernalia, and obstructing officers.
