Credit union buys long-empty San Jose site of popular restaurant

SAN JOSE — A credit union has bought a long-shuttered restaurant site in San Jose, paying millions for the property that includes the former dining establishment building and the adjacent parking lot.

Meriwest Credit Union has paid about $9.6 million to buy a one-time restaurant property at 620 Blossom Hill Road in south San Jose, according to documents filed on May 5 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s office.

The just-bought site was the long-time location of a Marie Callender’s pie restaurant, which closed its doors in 2022 after decades of operations…
