Bay Area rapper P-Lo receives key to City of Pinole

( KRON ) — Bay Area rapper P-Lo received the key to the City of Pinole on Wednesday. According to a press release, the Pinole City Council also declared May 7 as “P-Lo Day.” California Assemblymember Matt Haney declared that date to be P-Lo Day in the state as well.

P-Lo, whose full name is Paulo Rodriguez, was given the honor during a ceremony at his alma mater Pinole Valley High School. Through his platform and music, the musician has made an impact throughout the Bay Area community and within local Filipino-Americans.

“A true hometown hero, for all of us, whose story reflects the power of staying grounded, giving back to our community, and representing your Pinole roots with pride,” Pinole Mayor Cameron Sasai said in a news release.
