A 19-year-old Bay Area man accused of attempting to kidnap multiple women pleaded no contest Tuesday, court documents show, after telling authorities he was just “pranking” them, the Sacramento Bee reported .
The man was initially charged with five counts of attempted kidnapping, one count of assault and one count of cruelty to a child by inflicting injury, according to a complaint filed in January and obtained by SFGATE. But in his plea agreement this week, the man pleaded no contest to two of the kidnapping charges and is now facing up to four years and 10 months in custody, three years of parole and two fines of up to $10,000 each.
The man allegedly started the kidnapping spree Oct. 13, according to the criminal complaint. Prosecutors said he parked his car outside a home in San Mateo and threatened a woman with a gun, the Bee reported . As the woman and her 4-year-old were standing outside the house, the man allegedly grabbed her arm and tried to force her to go with him.
