Former California DoorDash driver pleads guilty to fake delivery fraud scheme; Company lost $2.5M

SAN JOSE, Calif. – A Newport Beach man has pleaded guilty in a San Jose federal courtroom to orchestrating a scheme that defrauded San Francisco-based DoorDash, Inc. out of more than $2.5 million, federal prosecutors announced.

Sayee Chaitanya Reddy Devagiri, 30, admitted to conspiring with others to exploit DoorDash’s internal software systems between 2020 and 2021 while working as a driver, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

According to the Northern District of California, Devagiri used customer accounts to place high-value orders and falsely marked them as delivered using access to employee credentials.
