A new, state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility will soon take shape along one of Sunnyvale’s main corridors. While initial construction work on the new El Camino Hospital facility on El Camino Real near Mary Avenue has already started, the official groundbreaking ceremony took place on April 22.
“Patients in these types of facilities will learn how to speak again after a stroke, strengthen muscles after a broken hip and regain use of motor skills, such as your daily activities of living, cooking, driving, things that you take for granted each and every day, but not so much after you’ve suffered an injury,” said Dan Woods, El Camino Health’s CEO.
When completed, the project will include 52 private rooms, an interdisciplinary gym, therapeutic courtyard and transitional living apartments, all designed to help patients recover, regain independence and ultimately return to their daily lives…
