(KRON) — A Redwood City man who threatened his roommate with an axe was arrested following a brief standoff on Wednesday, according to police.
The Redwood City Police Department responded at 3:36 p.m. to the 300 block of Redwood Avenue on the report of a disturbance between two roommates. Arriving officers learned the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Eduardo Lazoflores, had been holding an axe over his head and threatened to strike his roommate, authorities said.
After determining that Lazoflores had moved to the property’s rear yard, police formed a perimeter in the area and advised neighbors to stay indoors, according to Redwood City PD. Police said “numerous” announcements and commands were made to Lazoflores in an attempt to get him to surrender.

After 30 minutes of talking with the RCPD’s Crisis Negotiations Unit, Lazoflores was safely taken into custody, police said.
