(KRON) — A felon was arrested during a Bay Area traffic stop on June 10, after Newark Police Department officers allegedly found the suspect in possession of a loaded rifle, a handgun, drugs and a hoard of stolen bank cards.
The suspect was initially stopped for expired registration tags. The stop “developed into a significant arrest,” Newark PD said.

“During the investigation, officers determined that the driver had an expired license and was a convicted felon in possession of a loaded, unregistered hunting rifle and a firearm with a Glock-style frame,” Newark PD said. “A further search revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, ammunition, and over 48 pieces of stolen property including checks, driver’s licenses, mail, and bank cards belonging to various victims.”
The case was referred to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office of prosecution. The driver faces multiple weapons charges and charges for drug possession, identity theft, and fraud.
