Chilling maps show wildfires already burning across California as powerful winds are set to send blaze risks soaring this weekend.

More than 2,600 wildfires have already broken out in the Golden State this year, burning 89,400 acres, destroying more than 16,000 structures and killing 30 people. But forecasters warn more lethal blazes are likely.

Recent fires have broken out in San Bernardino, San Diego, El Dorado, Shasta and Fresno. Across the state, spring 2025 was warmer and drier than normal and wildfire activity is already trending above normal…
